Conservation of Local Bats and Specific Endangered Species at ThunderCroft
In a coordinated effort with Virginia Tech's Science Alliance, ThunderCroft has expanded its conservation programs in 2018 to include the monitoring of bat species on our tract of land in hopes of generating valuable data over time that will support our efforts to maintain populations of species vital to the health of our specific ecosystem. Nocturnal mist netting in April of 2018 revealed the presence of Silver Haired bats. Sound recordings also detected the presence of the Virginia Big-Eared Bat; however, we have not been fortunate enough to net one as of yet.
